Chevrolet SS: The Underrated Performance Sedan
The Chevrolet SS was a rear-wheel-drive V8 performance sedan, a Holden-based sleeper beloved by enthusiasts.
Sold from 2014 to 2017, the Chevrolet SS was a four-door performance sedan based on the Australian Holden Commodore. It packed a 6.2-liter LS-family V8 producing over 400 horsepower, rear-wheel drive, and an available manual transmission, a rare combination in a modern sedan.
Understated in appearance, the SS was a true sleeper that offered genuine sports-sedan performance, comfortable everyday usability, and even served in NASCAR as Chevrolet's race car namesake during those years.
Sold in limited numbers and now discontinued, the SS has become a cult favorite, prized as one of the last affordable V8, rear-drive, manual sedans.
