Chevrolet Bolt: The Affordable Long-Range EV
The Bolt EV was Chevrolet's affordable electric hatchback, one of the first to offer over 200 miles of range at a mainstream price.
Launched in 2016, the Bolt EV was a landmark electric car, offering an EPA-rated range exceeding 230 miles at a price far below the Tesla Model S. It made long-range electric driving accessible to mainstream buyers years before many rivals.
A practical five-door hatchback, the Bolt offered surprising interior space, peppy performance from its single electric motor, and good efficiency. Chevrolet later added the larger Bolt EUV crossover variant.
Despite a battery recall that temporarily paused production, the Bolt remained a popular, value-focused EV. It was discontinued and then slated for revival, cementing its role in democratizing electric mobility.
