SEAT (Sociedad Espanola de Automoviles de Turismo) is Spain's largest automaker and has been part of the Volkswagen Group since 1986. That ownership gave SEAT access to VW's engineering, platforms, and powertrains, while the brand carved out its own identity by leaning into younger-skewing, sportier design language than its German siblings. The result is a lineup that shares mechanical bones with cars like the VW Golf and Tiguan but wears different sheet metal and a more energetic tuning character.

The current SEAT range spans the Ibiza supermini, the Leon compact hatchback and estate, and a trio of SUVs in the Arona, Ateca, and Tarraco, plus the practical Alhambra MPV for large families. Older nameplates like the Toledo sedan have been phased out of the European lineup as SEAT concentrated on crossovers and hot hatches, which now make up the bulk of sales. Performance-minded buyers have long looked to SEAT's FR and Cupra trims for turbocharged punch and firmer chassis tuning.

In recent years Cupra split off from SEAT to become its own standalone performance and electrification-focused marque, though the two brands remain closely linked under Volkswagen Group and share dealerships and engineering resources in many markets. Cars like the Cupra Leon still trace their roots directly to SEAT's mainstream models. On the used market, SEATs tend to offer VW Group build quality and reliability at a lower price point than the equivalent Volkswagen, making them a value-oriented pick for buyers who want German-engineered mechanicals with a bit more visual flair.
