SEAT Tarraco: The Brand's Largest SUV
The Tarraco is SEAT's midsize three-row SUV, named after the ancient Roman city of Tarraco, now modern Tarragona.
The SEAT Tarraco arrived in 2018 as the brand's flagship SUV, slotting above the Ateca to offer three rows of seating and up to seven-passenger capacity. It takes its name from Tarraco, the ancient Roman name for the Spanish city of Tarragona, continuing SEAT's tradition of naming models after Spanish places. Mechanically, it rides on the same MQB platform as the VW Tiguan Allspace and Skoda Kodiaq.
Positioned as a genuine family hauler, the Tarraco offers a roomier cabin and more cargo flexibility than the Ateca, along with available all-wheel drive and a range of turbocharged petrol and diesel engines. A Cupra-branded high-performance variant was also offered before the Cupra Formentor and other dedicated Cupra models took over that role in the lineup.
Used Tarraco buyers gain a spacious, well-equipped three-row SUV with VW Group engineering underneath, often at a lower price than equivalent Tiguan Allspace or Kodiaq models. As with other SEAT SUVs, verifying turbo engine and transmission maintenance history is a smart step before purchase.
