SEAT Arona: A Compact Crossover Built on the Ibiza
The Arona is SEAT's subcompact crossover SUV, built on the Ibiza platform as a smaller sibling to the Ateca.
Introduced in 2017, the SEAT Arona took the mechanical foundation of the Ibiza supermini and raised it into a subcompact crossover body, giving buyers SUV-style looks and a higher driving position without stepping up to the larger Ateca. It shares the MQB A0 platform with the Ibiza and VW's own T-Cross, keeping the powertrain lineup similarly compact and efficient.
The Arona is front-wheel drive only, focusing on efficient turbocharged three- and four-cylinder engines rather than off-road capability, which suits its role as an urban and suburban runabout. Sportier FR trims bring more aggressive styling and firmer suspension tuning for buyers who want visual attitude to match the crossover shape.
