Lamborghini Jalpa: The Accessible 1980s Lamborghini
The Jalpa was Lamborghini's entry-level mid-engined V8 sports car of the 1980s, a more usable alternative to the flagship Countach.
Built from 1981 to 1988, the Jalpa was Lamborghini's smaller, more affordable mid-engined sports car, positioned below the dramatic Countach. It used a 3.5-liter V8 mounted transversely behind the seats, producing around 250 horsepower, paired with a targa-style removable roof panel.
The Jalpa evolved from the earlier Silhouette and offered a more practical, livable supercar experience than the extreme Countach, with better visibility and everyday usability. Its wedge styling captured the era while remaining comparatively restrained.
Roughly 410 were built, making it relatively rare today. The Jalpa famously appeared in popular culture and is now appreciated as the last V8 Lamborghini until the Urus, a charismatic and increasingly collectible 1980s machine.
