Nissan
Nissan's Z car successor to 350Z (2009-2020). VQ37VHR V6 making 332 horsepower. NISMO variant with 350 horsepower for focused performance.
The Nissan 370Z (chassis code Z34) is a sport coupe and roadster produced from 2009 to 2020. The 370Z replaced the 350Z and refined the formula with a larger 3.7-liter VQ37VHR V6 making 332 horsepower in standard trim and 350 horsepower in NISMO variants. The 370Z used the same FM platform as the 350Z but with various refinements including larger brakes, revised chassis tuning, and improved aerodynamics. The 370Z came in numerous variants. Standard 370Z, Touring (luxury-oriented), Sport (focused sport tuning), and NISMO (the most aggressive variant). The NISMO 370Z had a more aggressive body kit, specific suspension tuning, and the higher-output engine. The 370Z NISMO Coupe was the most desirable performance variant. The 370Z had a long production run (11 years). Throughout production, Nissan made gradual refinements but kept the basic platform unchanged. The car competed against the Toyota 86, Subaru BRZ, Mazda Miata, and various other sport coupes throughout its life. The 370Z had been the affordable RWD sport coupe option in Nissan lineup. Production ended in 2020 with the launch of the new Z (chassis code RZ34, 2023+). The 370Z aged into the recognized sport coupe segment with used pricing reflecting strong demand. On WhipJury, 370Z submissions are common, particularly NISMO examples and stock Sport-trim cars. Modified 370Zs with engine and suspension upgrades appear regularly.
3.7-liter naturally aspirated V6 with VVEL (Variable Valve Event and Lift) variable valve timing. 332 horsepower in standard trim, 350 horsepower in NISMO. Direct replacement for VQ35DE. Reliable and responsive; respond to bolt-ons but less aggressively than VQ35DE because the variable valve timing already maximizes naturally aspirated efficiency.
The NISMO variant is the most performance-focused 370Z. More aggressive body kit, NISMO-specific suspension tuning, larger brakes (Brembo on later models), and the higher-output engine. Production was limited each year. The NISMO 370Z has been one of the most desirable affordable sport coupes for buyers wanting focused performance.
NISMO and Sport variants reliably do well. Stock 370Zs in clean condition appear regularly. Modified builds (intake, exhaust, suspension, supercharger) are common. The community recognizes the 370Z as the long-running affordable sport coupe of the past decade.
