The McLaren F1 is a halo supercar produced from 1992 to 1998. The F1 was Gordon Murray response to the question: what would a road car look like with no compromises? The car uses BMW S70/2 V12 making 627 horsepower. Three-seat configuration with central driving position. Gold leaf in the engine bay for heat reflection. Carbon fiber chassis. The F1 set the production car top speed record (240.1 mph) in 1994 and held it for nearly a decade. The F1 GTR racing version won the 1995 Le Mans 24-hour race in its first attempt, finishing first overall. Total production was 64 road cars plus various racing variants. The F1 has been continuously celebrated as one of the greatest cars ever produced. Auction prices have crossed $20 million for clean examples. Used F1 cars are among the most valuable cars ever made.
