McLaren 540C: The Accessible Sports Series Entry

The 540C was the entry point to McLaren's range, a more attainable Sports Series model that kept the brand's carbon construction and turbo V8.

Launched as part of the Sports Series around 2015, the 540C was McLaren's most affordable model, designed to broaden the brand's appeal. Despite its entry position, it retained the carbon fiber MonoCell tub and a detuned 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 producing around 540 horsepower (hence the name).

The 540C delivered genuine supercar performance and McLaren's signature handling balance while being positioned as more usable for daily driving. It shared much with the 570S but was tuned for slightly more comfort and a lower price.

By offering true McLaren engineering at a lower entry point, the 540C helped expand the brand to a wider audience.
