The Maserati Quattroporte is an executive sedan produced since 1963 across multiple generations. The current sixth-generation Quattroporte (2013+) uses Ferrari-derived 3.0L twin-turbo V6 (S variant) or Ferrari-derived 3.8L twin-turbo V8 (GTS variant making 580 horsepower). Earlier generations used naturally aspirated V8 from Ferrari and Maserati own engines. The Quattroporte has been Maserati flagship sedan for over 60 years. Multiple generations have refined the formula. The fifth-generation Quattroporte (2003-2012) with Ferrari-derived 4.2L V8 is widely considered an enthusiast favorite. The sixth-generation Quattroporte continues the platform with refinements. On WhipJury, Quattroporte submissions are uncommon but distinctive.

Frequently asked questions about Maserati Quattroporte

Is the Quattroporte really Ferrari?
Engines are Ferrari-derived. The fifth-generation Quattroporte used Ferrari F136 V8 (the same engine family as Ferrari California, Maserati GranTurismo, and other Ferrari/Maserati products). The sixth-generation V6 and V8 are also Ferrari-derived. Both Ferrari and Maserati were under same corporate umbrella when the engines were developed.
How much does a Quattroporte cost?
Used pricing varies dramatically. Fifth-generation Quattroporte: $20,000-$50,000+. Sixth-generation S: $30,000-$70,000+. Sixth-generation GTS: $50,000-$130,000+. Pricing has depreciated significantly from new MSRP.
Are Quattroportes reliable?
Mixed. The Ferrari-derived V8 is reliable but expensive to maintain. Common issues include occasional infotainment concerns, suspension components, and various age-related items. Maintenance is expensive due to specialty parts and limited Maserati dealer support.
How does Quattroporte compare to Mercedes S-Class?
Different priorities. Quattroporte has more sport-luxury character (Ferrari V8 sound, more aggressive styling). S-Class has more refined daily character and broader feature set. Both compete in similar segment. S-Class is more reliable; Quattroporte has more personality.
What is the Quattroporte GTS?
The Quattroporte GTS is the focused performance variant. 3.8L twin-turbo V8 making 580 horsepower. 0-60 in around 4.7 seconds. The GTS provides genuine sport sedan performance in luxury sedan format. Targets buyers wanting Ferrari-derived V8 character in executive sedan.
