Maserati MC12: The Le Mans Racer Wearing an Enzo's Heart
The MC12 was Maserati's road-legal homologation supercar, built on Ferrari Enzo underpinnings to go racing in the GT championships.
Launched in 2004, the MC12 marked Maserati's return to top-flight motorsport after decades away. To go racing in the FIA GT championship, the brand had to build a small run of road cars, and just 50 road-going MC12s were produced.
Beneath its enormous, aerodynamically sculpted body lay the chassis and 6.0-litre V12 of the Ferrari Enzo, here producing around 620 horsepower. At nearly five metres long with a removable targa roof, the MC12 prioritised stability and downforce over the Enzo's outright aggression.
On track the racing MC12 was hugely successful, dominating GT competition for years. The road cars, finished almost exclusively in white and blue, are now among the rarest and most valuable Maseratis ever built.
