Maserati GranCabrio: Open-Top Grand Touring With a Ferrari V8
The GranCabrio brought four genuine seats and a soft-top roof to Maserati's grand tourer line, all powered by a sonorous naturally aspirated V8.
Launched in 2010 as the convertible companion to the GranTurismo, the GranCabrio was a rare thing: a true four-seat luxury convertible with the soundtrack of a Ferrari-built V8. Its fabric roof preserved the elegant proportions penned by Pininfarina.
Power came from a 4.7-litre naturally aspirated V8 producing around 440 horsepower, sent to the rear wheels through a ZF automatic. The emphasis was on relaxed, open-air cruising paired with a hard-edged howl when the throttle opened.
Over its long life the GranCabrio appeared in Sport and MC trims with subtle styling and chassis tweaks. A new turbocharged generation arrived in the 2020s, but the original remains beloved for the purity of its high-revving engine.
