Mercedes-Benz
Mercedes-AMG's gullwing supercar (2010-2014). Naturally aspirated 6.2 V8 making 563 horsepower. The modern reference to the original 300SL Gullwing.
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is a supercar produced from 2010 to 2014, replacing the SLR McLaren as Mercedes-AMG halo. The SLS used distinctive gullwing doors (referencing the 300SL Gullwing of the 1950s), making it visually distinctive among modern supercars. The naturally aspirated 6.2-liter M159 V8 made 563 horsepower in standard SLS and 622 horsepower in SLS AMG Black Series. The SLS came in coupe and roadster body styles. The Black Series variant (2013-2014) was the focused performance variant with reduced weight, more aggressive aerodynamics, and tuned engine. The SLS GT and various other special editions provided further variants. Production ended in 2014; the AMG GT replaced the SLS as Mercedes-AMG flagship sports car. The AMG GT has more accessible price point but lacks the SLS gullwing doors. Modern SLS AMG prices have appreciated as the cars become recognized future classics. On WhipJury, SLS AMG submissions are uncommon but always memorable. The gullwing doors and naturally aspirated V8 character make SLS submissions distinctive.
