Mercedes-Benz
Mercedes-AMG's modern flagship sports car. Twin-turbo V8 (or hybrid V8 in current generation), front-mid-engine layout, multiple variants from GT to GT Black Series.
The Mercedes-AMG GT is Mercedes-AMG modern flagship sports car, in production since 2014 (first generation, C190) and 2024+ (second generation, C192). The AMG GT replaced the SLS AMG as the brand halo sports car, with a more accessible price point and a focus on competitive sports car performance. The first-generation AMG GT (2014-2021) used the M178 twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 making 469-577 horsepower depending on trim. Front-mid-engine layout (the engine sits behind the front axle for better weight distribution). Rear-wheel drive. Various trim levels: GT (base), GT S, GT C, GT R, and the focused GT R Pro. The AMG GT Black Series (2020-2021) was the focused performance variant. Inverted firing order V8 (the only inverted-V8 in production), more aggressive aerodynamics, lighter weight, and the most aggressive AMG GT chassis tuning. The Black Series posted Nürburgring lap records that broke production car records at the time. The current second-generation AMG GT (2024+) uses a hybrid V8 powertrain (M177 with electric motor) making 805 horsepower combined. AWD optional. The car represents AMG transition toward electrified performance. On WhipJury, AMG GT submissions are uncommon but always memorable. Black Series and GT R variants reliably top voting. Modified examples appear occasionally. The community recognizes the AMG GT as one of the modern German sports cars.
