Mercedes-AMG hypercar (2022+). Formula 1-derived hybrid V6 plus four electric motors. 1,063 horsepower. 275 cars total.

The Mercedes-AMG ONE is a hybrid hypercar produced from 2022. The AMG ONE is Mercedes-AMG halo car with Formula 1-derived powertrain. The 1.6L hybrid V6 engine plus four electric motors produces combined 1,063 horsepower. Production was limited to 275 cars globally. The AMG ONE engine is derived from the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 power unit. The V6 redlines at 11,000 rpm. Drivability has been a major engineering challenge; the F1-derived powertrain required years of refinement to be street-legal. Production was delayed multiple years from the original 2017-2018 announcement to actual 2022 deliveries. On WhipJury, AMG ONE submissions are essentially impossible due to limited production but reliably top voting if they appear.

AMG ONE specifications

1.6L V6 hybrid F1-derived engine plus four electric motors. Combined 1,063 horsepower. 11,000 rpm V6 redline. Carbon fiber monocoque. Production: 275 cars total. Original price: around $2.7 million.

Frequently asked questions about Mercedes-Benz AMG ONE

Why was the AMG ONE delayed?
Drivability challenges. The F1-derived V6 was extremely difficult to make street-legal. Mercedes-AMG engineering refined the powertrain for years to achieve daily driveability while preserving the F1 character. The original 2017-2018 production target slipped to 2022 actual deliveries.
How does it compare to LaFerrari?
Different priorities. LaFerrari uses naturally aspirated V12 plus electric motor. AMG ONE uses F1-derived hybrid V6. AMG ONE has more power (1,063 vs 950 horsepower) and more advanced engineering. LaFerrari has more dramatic V12 character. Both are halo cars from same era; AMG ONE is more aggressive engineering.
How much does the AMG ONE cost?
Original MSRP was around $2.7 million. Limited production (275 cars) supports values. Used pricing has not yet developed extensively since the model is recent.
Is the AMG ONE reliable?
Too new for definitive long-term data. Initial production has been generally reliable but the F1-derived V6 has demanding maintenance requirements (similar to F1 engines, which require significant service intervals). Maintenance costs are extreme.
Can the AMG ONE drive on the street?
Yes, in production trim. The street-legal version is one of the most extreme road cars available. Mercedes-AMG had to refine the F1 powertrain for daily driveability. Some compromises were necessary to make it road-legal but the car maintains close to F1-derived character.

What Does EDM Mean? (European Domestic Market, Explained)

EDM stands for European Domestic Market: vehicles, parts, and styling built for sale in Europe, to European regulations. It is the European cousin of JDM and USDM, and the differences (engines, transmissions, lighting, and models we never got) are exactly why enthusiasts chase EDM cars.

What Is a Sleeper Car and Why Do People Build Them?

A sleeper is a car with serious performance hiding under a completely unremarkable exterior. The classic formula is an economy car, family sedan, wagon, or even a minivan built to embarrass sports cars while looking like it is on its way to a dentist appointment. The whole point is that nothing warns you.
