Ferrari plug-in hybrid mid-engine flagship (2019+). Twin-turbo V8 plus three electric motors. 986 horsepower combined. Most powerful Ferrari production car.

The Ferrari SF90 Stradale is a plug-in hybrid mid-engine supercar produced from 2019. The SF90 was the most powerful Ferrari production car at launch. The 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8 plus three electric motors produces combined 986 horsepower. Plug-in hybrid system provides limited pure electric range. AWD via the front-axle electric motors. The SF90 Spider (convertible) and SF90 XX Stradale (track-focused, around 1,016 horsepower) extended the platform. The XX is McLaren-style track-focused road-legal variant. On WhipJury, SF90 submissions are uncommon but always memorable.

SF90 specifications

4.0L twin-turbo V8 (769 horsepower) plus three electric motors (217 horsepower combined). Total system 986 horsepower. Eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. AWD. 0-60 in 2.5 seconds. Top speed 211 mph.

Frequently asked questions about Ferrari SF90

Is SF90 the most powerful Ferrari?
Among production cars, yes. SF90 makes 986 horsepower combined. The XX Stradale variant makes 1,016 horsepower. LaFerrari has 950 horsepower; the SF90 surpasses LaFerrari on production output.
Why is SF90 plug-in hybrid?
Performance and emissions. The plug-in hybrid system provides instant electric torque infill, AWD via front electric motors, and limited pure electric range. The hybrid system also helps Ferrari meet emissions regulations for the broader product line. Future Ferrari mid-engine cars are expected to continue hybrid development.
How much does an SF90 cost?
New 2024 SF90 Stradale: starts around $625,000. Used SF90: $500,000-$700,000+. SF90 Spider $580,000-$780,000+. Pricing has been generally stable since launch.
How does SF90 compare to LaFerrari?
Different priorities. LaFerrari (2013-2018) was naturally aspirated V12 plus electric motor (950 horsepower). SF90 (2019+) is twin-turbo V8 plus three electric motors (986 horsepower). LaFerrari has more dramatic V12 character; SF90 has more advanced engineering. SF90 is in current production; LaFerrari is no longer.
What is the XX variant?
The SF90 XX Stradale (2024+) is the track-focused variant. 1,016 horsepower combined (vs 986 in standard SF90). Reduced weight, more aggressive aerodynamics, retuned chassis. The XX represents the focused performance variant of the SF90 platform.

Ferrari Wants to Hide Its Aerodynamics in the Taillights

Ferrari has patented taillights that move out of the way to feed air to the rear wing and effectively lengthen it. It's a patent rather than a confirmed product, but it shows how hard the brand is working to get the downforce without letting the aero wreck the look.
