Ferrari 360 Modena: The Aluminum V8 Revolution
The 360 Modena marked a leap into modern Ferrari, an aluminum-bodied mid-engine V8 with sleek styling and no pop-up headlights.
Produced from 1999 to 2005, the 360 Modena was a milestone, built on an aluminum space-frame chassis that made it lighter and stiffer than the F355. Its smooth, rounded styling abandoned the pop-up headlights of its predecessors for a thoroughly modern look.
Powered by a 3.6-liter V8 producing around 400 horsepower, the 360 offered strong performance, the F1 paddle-shift gearbox, and was available as the Modena coupe and Spider. The hardcore Challenge Stradale version added track focus.
The 360 ushered Ferrari into the modern era of aluminum construction and contemporary design, remaining a popular and increasingly appreciated V8 Ferrari.
