Chevrolet Nova: The Compact With Muscle Potential
The Nova was Chevrolet's compact car that, in SS form with V8 power, became a beloved and surprisingly potent muscle car.
Produced in several runs from 1962 to 1979 (and revived briefly in the 1980s), the Nova was Chevrolet's compact car offering practical, affordable transport. Its simple, light body made it an ideal candidate for V8 power.
The Nova SS, especially with big-block engines, turned the humble compact into a serious muscle car and drag-strip favorite, beloved for its sleeper potential and strong performance for the size and price.
The 1980s Nova was a rebadged Toyota Corolla built through a joint venture, very different from the muscle-era cars. The classic Nova remains a popular and collectible muscle and project car.
