Chevrolet Cruze: The Global Compact Sedan
The Cruze was Chevrolet's global compact car, a competitive sedan and hatchback that helped modernize the brand's small-car image.
Launched globally around 2008 and in the US for 2011, the Cruze replaced the Cobalt and marked a significant step up in quality and refinement for Chevrolet's compact offering. It competed seriously with the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla.
The Cruze offered efficient turbocharged engines, including a diesel option, and was available as a sedan and hatchback. It became a strong global seller and a core part of Chevrolet's lineup.
Chevrolet discontinued the Cruze in North America around 2019 as it shifted toward SUVs, but the Cruze remains significant as a much-improved modern compact.
