Pontiac
Pontiac's pony car (1967-2002). Camaro sister car. Trans Am, Formula, and standard Firebird trim levels across four generations.
The Pontiac Firebird is a pony car produced from 1967 to 2002. The Firebird was Pontiac sister car to the Chevrolet Camaro; both shared platform and many components. Four generations of Firebird ran from 1967 to 2002 before Pontiac discontinued the model. Trim levels included standard Firebird, Firebird Formula (mid-tier performance), and Firebird Trans Am (focused performance). The Trans Am has more cultural recognition; the Firebird and Formula are more affordable used. The fourth-generation Firebird (1993-2002) with LS1 V8 is the most affordable RWD V8 platform from the era. Production ended in 2002. Pontiac itself was discontinued in 2010. The Firebird name has not been revived in production. On WhipJury, Firebird submissions are common, particularly Trans Am variants and modified fourth-generation Firebirds.
