The Infiniti Q50 replaced the G sedan as Infiniti compact sport sedan. Early cars used the familiar VQ37 V6 and a hybrid option, but the car came into its own with the VR30DDTT twin-turbo 3.0 liter V6, offered in 300 horsepower and 400 horsepower Red Sport 400 tunes. The Red Sport 400 is the enthusiast model, delivering genuine pace and a strong tuning ceiling from its twin-turbo V6. The Q50 also introduced Infiniti Direct Adaptive Steering, a steer-by-wire system. On WhipJury, Red Sport 400 builds with downpipes and tunes appear regularly, making impressive power for the money.

What is the Q50 Red Sport 400?
It is the high-output Q50, using the VR30DDTT twin-turbo 3.0 liter V6 tuned to 400 horsepower. It is the enthusiast pick and responds very well to downpipes and tuning.
Is the Q50 the same as the G37?
No. The Q50 replaced the G sedan. Early Q50s shared the VQ37 V6 with the G37, but the platform, electronics, and later VR30 twin-turbo engine are distinct.
How much power can the VR30 make?
The VR30DDTT responds strongly to bolt-ons. With downpipes and a tune, Red Sport 400 cars commonly reach the high 400s to low 500s at the crank, and built examples go much further. It is one of the better-value tuning platforms.
Is the Q50 reliable?
Generally yes, though the VR30 has had some reports of timing chain and turbo concerns on early cars, and the Direct Adaptive Steering is polarizing. A well-maintained later car is dependable.
What is the difference between Q50 and Q60?
The Q50 is the four-door sedan and the Q60 is the two-door coupe. They share the VR30 twin-turbo V6 and much of their hardware.
