The Infiniti FX45 is the V8 version of the original FX sport crossover. The VK45 4.5 liter V8 gave it around 315 horsepower and a genuinely quick character for a mid-2000s SUV, paired with the same dramatic coupe-like styling as the FX35. It was a niche, fast luxury crossover before the segment exploded. On WhipJury, the FX45 is a rarer sight than the FX35 and stands out for its V8 soundtrack and bold proportions.

FX45 specifications

VK45 4.5 liter V8, around 315 horsepower. All-wheel drive. 5-speed automatic. FM platform shared with the G and Z.

Frequently asked questions about Infiniti FX45

What is the difference between FX35 and FX45?
The FX45 uses a VK45 4.5 liter V8 instead of the FX35 VQ35 V6, giving it more power and a V8 soundtrack. The FX45 also came standard with all-wheel drive.
How much power does the FX45 make?
Around 315 horsepower from the VK45 V8, which made it one of the quicker luxury crossovers of its time.
Is the FX45 reliable?
Generally yes. The VK45 V8 is durable, though fuel economy is poor and large tires and brakes add to running costs. Maintenance history matters.
Is the FX45 rare?
Yes, relative to the V6 FX35. The V8 model sold in smaller numbers, so clean examples are less common on the used market.
What replaced the FX45?
The V8 FX was dropped after 2008; the FX line continued with V6 and later V8 options before being renamed QX70 in 2014.
