Ford Edge: The Midsize Two-Row Crossover
The Edge was Ford's midsize five-seat crossover, a practical and popular SUV slotting between the Escape and the three-row Explorer.
Launched in 2007, the Edge filled the midsize two-row crossover niche, offering more space than the compact Escape without the third row of the Explorer. It became a strong seller thanks to its comfortable ride, generous cargo room, and approachable design.
Over its generations the Edge offered a range of four-cylinder and V6 engines, including the performance-oriented Edge ST with a twin-turbo V6. Front- and all-wheel drive were available, suiting a wide range of family buyers.
The Edge remained a core part of Ford's SUV lineup for years as the brand shifted away from sedans toward crossovers and trucks.
