Ford Crown Victoria: The Quintessential American Sedan
The Crown Victoria was a full-size, body-on-frame V8 sedan best known as the workhorse of American police fleets and taxi services.
Produced from 1992 to 2011, the Crown Victoria was one of the last traditional full-size American sedans, built on a rear-wheel-drive, body-on-frame platform with a 4.6-liter V8. Its durability and simplicity made it the default choice for police departments and taxi companies for decades.
The Police Interceptor version became an icon of American law enforcement, while civilian models offered roomy, comfortable, old-school sedan motoring. Its rugged construction made it easy to repair and extremely long-lived.
When production ended, it marked the close of an era for the traditional V8 American sedan, leaving a legacy as one of the most recognizable cars on US roads.
