Dodge Challenger SRT Demon: The Drag-Strip Monster
The Challenger SRT Demon was a street-legal drag racing monster, a supercharged Hellcat-derived muscle car built to dominate the quarter mile.
Introduced for 2018, the Challenger SRT Demon took the Hellcat formula to the extreme, with a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 producing 808 horsepower on pump gas, or 840 horsepower on race fuel. It was engineered specifically for drag racing, with features no production car had offered.
The Demon included a transbrake, drag-radial tires, and even an available crate of drag-strip equipment. It could pull the front wheels off the ground at launch, a production-car first, and ran the quarter mile in the low nine-second range.
Limited to a single model year and a defined production run, the Demon became an instant legend. It was later followed by the even more extreme Demon 170.
