Buick Roadmaster: The Full-Size Comfort Cruiser
The Roadmaster was Buick's full-size flagship, known in its 1990s revival for a powerful V8 and a roomy wagon body.
The Roadmaster name dates to 1936, but it is best known for its 1991 to 1996 revival as a large, rear-wheel-drive full-size car. Offered as a sedan and a spacious wagon, the revived Roadmaster used a powerful Chevrolet-sourced V8 and emphasized comfort, space, and towing capability.
The Roadmaster Estate Wagon, with its faux wood trim and vast cargo area, became a beloved family hauler and is now a cult classic. Its LT1 V8 gave it surprising performance for such a large car.
The Roadmaster represented the last of Buick's traditional big rear-drive cars, cherished today especially in wagon form.
