Launched in 2013, the Encore was one of the first entries in the subcompact luxury crossover segment, giving Buick an affordable, urban-friendly SUV. Its small size, easy maneuverability, and surprisingly quiet, well-appointed cabin made it popular, especially with buyers downsizing from larger cars.
The Encore offered turbocharged power, available all-wheel drive, and Buick's QuietTuning refinement. It was later joined and partly succeeded by the larger Encore GX, broadening the brand's small-SUV offerings.
