What is VeilSide?
Japanese aftermarket company known for full body kits like the Fortune RX-7, featured in the Fast and Furious films.
VeilSide is a Japanese aftermarket parts company based near Tsukuba Circuit. It opened in 1990, and the name comes from its owner, Hironao Yokomaku: "yoko" means side and "maku" means veil. It started with suspension and engine tuning parts and later moved into aero, body, and interior parts.
VeilSide won the Grand Prize in the Tuned Car category at the 1991 Tokyo Auto Salon, and its Supra Combat design took the Complete Car Grand Prize in 1994. Yokomaku took inspiration from the 1960s Batmobile. After the company received Ministry of Transportation approval for its aero parts in July 1995, it built out a full catalog, first for Japanese cars like the Toyota Supra, Mazda RX-7, Subaru Impreza, and Mitsubishi FTO. Its best-known product, the Fortune kit, replaces every body panel except the roof. It has been offered for the RX-7 FD3S, Supra Mk IV, Acura NSX, Toyota MR-S, and Nissan Skyline V35 and V36, at prices from US$4,500 for the MR-S to US$15,000 for the RX-7.
VeilSide parts appeared in six Fast and Furious films, from The Fast and the Furious (2001) and Tokyo Drift (2006) to Fast & Furious 6 (2013). The company also offers engine tuning and has run its cars in time attack, drag racing, and drift events such as the D1 Grand Prix.
