The Toyota Tundra is a full-size pickup truck produced since 2000 across three generations. The Tundra was Toyota first attempt at competing in the American full-size pickup segment, traditionally dominated by Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado, and Ram. The current third-generation Tundra (2022+) launched with significant updates including hybrid powertrain availability and refined chassis dynamics. The current Tundra uses the i-FORCE 3.5 twin-turbo V6 (389 horsepower) or i-FORCE MAX hybrid (437 horsepower) powertrains. Naturally aspirated V8 options were discontinued for the new generation; the i-FORCE V6 with hybrid assistance provides better fuel economy with similar or better performance than competitor V8 trucks. The Tundra TRD Pro (2022+) is the off-road focused variant. Standard with i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain (around 437 horsepower), Fox shocks, locking rear differential, and TRD-specific styling. The Tundra TRD Pro competes with the Ford F-150 Raptor, GMC Sierra AT4X, and Ram 1500 Rebel. On WhipJury, Tundra submissions are common, particularly TRD Pro and lifted off-road builds. Modified Tundras with various performance and off-road modifications appear regularly.
Off-road focused variant with i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain (437 horsepower), Fox shocks, locking rear differential, and TRD-specific styling. Competes with Ford F-150 Raptor and Ram 1500 Rebel in the off-road truck segment.
TRD Pro submissions reliably do well. Lifted off-road Tundras with various aftermarket modifications appear regularly. Modified Tundras with performance upgrades are common.
