Ram's full-size pickup. Modern luxury, the Ram TRX (with Hellcat engine), and the Ram REV electric variant. Direct F-150 competitor.

The Ram 1500 is a full-size pickup produced since 1994, originally as Dodge Ram before becoming standalone Ram brand in 2010. The Ram 1500 has been one of the most successful full-size pickups, with the brand standalone Ram 1500 era introducing significantly more refined interior, modern infotainment, and various advanced features. The Ram 1500 TRX (2021-2024) was the Hellcat as a truck. Same supercharged 6.2 Hemi V8 making 702 horsepower as the Challenger Hellcat, in a full-size pickup with serious off-road suspension and tires. Direct competitor to the Ford F-150 Raptor. Production ended in 2024 alongside the broader Hellcat platform wind-down. The Ram 1500 RHO (2024+) is the new performance Ram pickup, replacing the TRX. Uses 3.0 twin-turbo inline-six (the Hurricane) instead of the V8. Less aggressive than TRX in some respects but provides similar off-road capability with modern engineering. On WhipJury, Ram submissions are highly active, particularly TRX and lifted Ram builds. Modified Rams with various aftermarket modifications appear regularly.

Frequently asked questions about Ram 1500

Why was the Ram TRX discontinued?
Stellantis ended the Hellcat platform program in 2023-2024. The TRX was one of the last Hellcat-powered vehicles. The Ram 1500 RHO is the current performance Ram pickup, with a 3.0 twin-turbo inline six instead of the supercharged V8.
Is the Ram interior really better than F-150?
Generally yes. The Ram 1500 has been widely praised for premium interior materials, intuitive infotainment (with massive 12-inch screen option), and refined daily character. The F-150 interior has been competitive in recent generations but the Ram has typically held an interior quality advantage.
How much does a Ram cost?
Standard Ram 1500: $35,000-$60,000 new. TRX used: $90,000-$140,000. New Ram 1500 RHO around $70,000+. Lifted Ram builds with aftermarket modifications can exceed $100,000.
Are Rams reliable?
Generally yes. The 5.7 Hemi V8 is durable. The 3.0 Hurricane I6 has been reliable in early production. Common issues include occasional infotainment concerns, suspension wear at high mileage, and the typical electronics gremlins of modern luxury vehicles.
What is the Ram REV?
The Ram REV is the announced electric variant of the Ram 1500. Production was originally targeted for 2024-2025; the launch has been delayed to 2025-2026. The REV will use the new Stellantis STLA Frame electric platform with dual motors and a large battery.

Why Pickup Trucks Keep Getting Bigger
Why Pickup Trucks Keep Getting Bigger

Park a new full-size pickup next to a 1990s truck and the old one looks like a toy. Hood heights are up about 11 percent since 2000. Fuel economy rules that reward a bigger footprint, buyers treating trucks as family cars, and styling chasing toughness all pushed in the same direction.

Why the Car You Drive Says More About You Than You Want to Admit

Nobody wants to believe their car is a personality test. The standard defense is that it is just transportation, a practical decision based on budget and needs and maybe a little bit of what was available on the lot that day. That defense does not hold up. The car you chose, out of every car available at your price point, is one of the most readable signals you broadcast to everyone who sees you pull into a parking lot...

Why Car People and Regular People Vote Completely Differently in Faceoffs
Why Car People and Regular People Vote Completely Differently in Faceoffs

Put a Porsche 911 against a Dodge Charger in a faceoff and the results split in a way that is almost perfectly predictable based on one variable: whether the voter knows anything about cars. Regular people pick the Charger. Car people pick the 911. Neither group is wrong. They are just answering different questions...
