Plymouth GTX: The Gentleman's Muscle Car
The GTX was Plymouth's upscale muscle car, pairing big-block power with a more refined, premium image.
Introduced in 1967, the GTX was positioned as a more upscale, premium muscle car, often called the gentleman's muscle car. It came standard with big-block V8 power, including the 440 and the available 426 Hemi, delivering serious performance.
Based on the midsize Belvedere and later the Satellite, the GTX combined muscle-car straight-line speed with nicer trim and a more grown-up image than the budget-focused Road Runner. It was a genuine performance machine with style.
The GTX is a respected muscle car, prized for its big-block power and upscale character, especially in rare Hemi-equipped form.
