Koenigsegg CCXR: The Biofuel Hypercar
The CCXR was a special biofuel-capable version of the CCX, producing colossal power when running on E85 ethanol.
The CCXR was an environmentally minded yet outrageously powerful variant of Koenigsegg's CCX, engineered to run on E85 ethanol or race-grade biofuel as well as regular gasoline. Because ethanol burns cooler and allows higher boost, the twin-supercharged V8 produced over 1,000 horsepower on biofuel, far more than on gasoline.
This made the CCXR one of the most powerful production cars in the world when it appeared, while offering a greener fuel option. It retained Koenigsegg's carbon construction, dihedral doors, and removable roof.
Built in extremely limited numbers, including the special CCXR Edition and the ultra-rare CCXR Trevita with its diamond-weave carbon finish, the CCXR is among the most exclusive and collectible Koenigseggs ever made.
