Dodge Super Bee: The Budget Muscle Car
The Super Bee was Dodge's affordable, no-frills muscle car, delivering big-block power at a budget price during the muscle era.
Introduced in 1968, the Super Bee was Dodge's answer to the budget muscle car trend, offering serious big-block V8 performance with minimal frills at an attainable price. Based on the Coronet (and later the Charger), it targeted young buyers wanting maximum speed per dollar.
The Super Bee offered potent engines including the 383, the 440 Six Pack, and the legendary 426 Hemi, paired with its playful bee mascot branding. It delivered genuine muscle-car performance without the price of higher-trim models.
The Super Bee name was revived on later Dodge performance models, but the original muscle-era Super Bee remains a cherished, value-focused classic.
