Saab 9-2X: The Rebadged Subaru Saabaru
The 9-2X was a Saab-badged Subaru Impreza wagon, affectionately nicknamed the Saabaru, offering all-wheel-drive practicality.
Produced for 2005 and 2006, the 9-2X was a compact wagon based on the Subaru Impreza, created during the period when both brands were partly owned by General Motors. It blended Subaru's all-wheel-drive engineering with Saab styling touches.
Nicknamed the Saabaru, the 9-2X offered Subaru's reliable boxer engines and all-wheel drive, including a turbocharged Aero version based on the WRX. Its Saab-specific front end and interior tweaks distinguished it from the Impreza.
The 9-2X is a curiosity in Saab history, combining Subaru capability with Saab branding, appreciated today as an unusual and practical all-wheel-drive wagon.
