Land Rover
Land Rover original compact SUV (1997-2006). Brought the brand to a smaller, more affordable class.
The Land Rover Freelander was the brand first compact SUV, launched in 1997 to bring Land Rover capability to a smaller, more affordable class. It used unibody construction and offered four-cylinder and V6 engines, becoming a strong seller that broadened the brand reach beyond its traditional rugged models. In North America the later second generation was sold as the LR2. On WhipJury, the original Freelander appears as an affordable, characterful compact Land Rover.
Four-cylinder petrol and diesel and a 2.5 liter V6. All-wheel drive. Unibody construction. Compact SUV; three- and five-door bodies on the first generation.
