Citroen C5

Launched in 2001, the original C5 continued Citroen's tradition of comfort-focused midsize sedans and estates, offered with the brand's hydropneumatic or hydractive suspension to smooth out longer journeys. It served as Citroen's answer to family cars like the Ford Mondeo and Volkswagen Passat, aimed at buyers who valued a plush ride over sporty dynamics.

The nameplate continued through a second generation before Citroen paused the traditional C5 sedan and estate body styles in many markets, shifting focus toward crossovers as buyer preferences moved away from conventional family sedans across Europe.

The C5 name was later revived on the C5 X, a liftback that blends sedan, wagon, and SUV proportions in one body, continuing the comfort-first suspension tuning while adapting to modern buyers who want the practicality of a crossover without fully committing to traditional SUV styling.
