Rimac Nevera: The Record-Breaking Electric Hypercar
The Nevera is Rimac's four-motor electric hypercar built to out-accelerate anything else on the road.
The Rimac Nevera is named after a fast-moving storm that sweeps in off the Adriatic Sea without warning, a fitting name for a car built almost entirely around sudden, overwhelming acceleration. Four independent electric motors, one at each wheel, combine for roughly 1,900 horsepower, and Rimac's own torque-vectoring software distributes that power instantly to whichever wheel can use it best. The result is a car that can hit 60 mph in under two seconds, a figure that put it near the top of every production car acceleration list when it launched.
Beyond the headline acceleration numbers, the Nevera set a long string of records for electric vehicles, including top speed runs and quarter-mile times, proving the car was not just quick off the line but genuinely fast throughout its full range. Every major component, from the battery cells to the motors and cooling system, was engineered in-house by Rimac rather than sourced from outside suppliers, reflecting the same vertically integrated approach the company later brought to its work with Bugatti and other partner brands.
As Rimac's flagship model, the Nevera represents the culmination of everything the company learned building the earlier Concept One, turning a promising proof of concept into a fully realized, record-setting hypercar. It remains the clearest demonstration of why other manufacturers turned to Rimac for electric powertrain technology rather than developing it entirely on their own.
