Lincoln Continental: The Iconic Luxury Flagship
The Continental is one of Lincoln's most storied nameplates, a luxury flagship famous for its elegance and the suicide-door 1960s sedans.
The Continental name spans decades of Lincoln flagships, but it is most iconic for the 1961 to 1969 generation with its clean, slab-sided styling and rear-hinged suicide doors, a design widely regarded as one of the most beautiful American cars ever and famously associated with the era's presidential limousines.
The Continental nameplate appeared on many generations of luxury sedans and coupes. Lincoln revived it one final time from 2017 to 2020 as a modern luxury sedan, including a special edition that brought back the suicide-door layout.
The Continental remains a symbol of American luxury, with the 1960s models in particular cherished as design icons.
