GMC Envoy: The Midsize SUV
The Envoy was GMC's midsize SUV of the 2000s, a body-on-frame family hauler with available inline-six power.
The Envoy name began as an upscale version of the Jimmy and became a standalone midsize SUV from 2002 to 2009. Built on GM's body-on-frame midsize platform shared with the Chevrolet TrailBlazer, it offered rugged capability and family practicality.
The Envoy featured a smooth and torquey inline-six engine, available V8 power, and four-wheel drive, plus an extended-length XL version and the car-pickup-style Envoy XUV. It competed in the booming 2000s midsize SUV market.
The Envoy gave GMC a competitive midsize SUV during the SUV boom, remembered for its capable inline-six and rugged, practical design.
