Cadillac
Plug-in hybrid luxury coupe (2014-2016). Volt-based, striking design, limited sales.
The Cadillac ELR is a plug-in hybrid luxury coupe based on the Chevrolet Volt powertrain. It wrapped the Volt extended-range electric system in a dramatic, low-slung Cadillac coupe body with a premium interior, offering electric driving with gas-engine backup. Its high price relative to the Volt limited sales, making it a rare and intriguing footnote. On WhipJury, the ELR appears as an unusual, good-looking plug-in hybrid coupe.
Plug-in hybrid: electric drive with a gas engine range-extender, around 207 to 233 horsepower depending on year. Front-wheel drive. Based on the Chevrolet Volt powertrain.
