Bentley Arnage: The Last of the Classic Bentleys
The Arnage was Bentley's flagship saloon from 1998 to 2009, a stately hand-built luxury sedan powered by a thunderous turbocharged V8.
The Arnage arrived in 1998 as Bentley's full-size flagship, replacing the long-running Turbo R and Brooklands. Early cars briefly used a BMW-sourced V8, but Bentley soon returned to its beloved 6.75-liter twin-turbo V8, an engine with roots stretching back decades, delivering immense torque and effortless pace.
Hand-built in Crewe with sumptuous leather and wood interiors, the Arnage represented old-world craftsmanship at its peak. It was offered in various forms including the sporting T and the long-wheelbase RL favored by chauffeur-driven owners.
The Arnage was the last Bentley developed largely before Volkswagen's full modernization of the brand took hold with the Continental GT. When production ended in 2009, it closed a chapter on a classic, separate-chassis-era style of Bentley flagship.
