Scion iQ: The Ultra-Compact City Car
The Scion iQ was a tiny city car, a rebadged Toyota iQ designed for maximum maneuverability and efficiency in urban environments.
Launched for 2012, the iQ was one of the smallest cars sold in North America, a clever ultra-compact based on the Toyota iQ. Despite its minuscule footprint, packaging tricks allowed it to seat up to three adults plus a child, earning it a reputation as a three-plus-one car.
Powered by a small 1.3-liter four-cylinder, the iQ prioritized fuel economy and city agility, slotting into parking spaces few other cars could manage. It even spawned an electric version in very limited numbers.
The iQ struggled to find a large audience in the US market, where buyers favored larger vehicles, and it was discontinued as Scion wound down.
