Polestar 1: The Carbon-Bodied Hybrid Grand Tourer
The Polestar 1 was the brand's debut model, a limited-production plug-in hybrid grand touring coupe with a carbon fiber body.
Launched in 2019, the Polestar 1 established the Swedish brand as a standalone performance marque spun out of Volvo. It was a striking two-door grand tourer built largely from carbon fiber, blending elegant Scandinavian design with advanced engineering.
Its plug-in hybrid powertrain paired a supercharged and turbocharged four-cylinder with electric motors for a combined output of around 619 horsepower and a substantial electric-only range for a performance car. Production was strictly limited, making it a halo statement piece.
The Polestar 1 served to announce the brand's design language and ambition before it pivoted to fully electric models, and it remains a rare, collectible showcase of the company's beginnings.
