Isuzu Ascender: The Three-Row SUV
The Ascender was Isuzu's full-size SUV, a rebadged GM midsize SUV that was among the brand's last passenger vehicles in the US.
Produced from 2003 to 2008, the Ascender was Isuzu's body-on-frame SUV, based on the GM platform shared with the Chevrolet TrailBlazer and GMC Envoy. It was offered in five- and seven-seat forms, giving Isuzu a larger family SUV.
The Ascender used GM inline-six and V8 engines and available four-wheel drive, offering capable, practical SUV motoring. It reflected Isuzu's partnership with General Motors during the brand's final years selling passenger vehicles in the US.
The Ascender was one of the last Isuzu SUVs in the American market before the brand withdrew from US passenger-vehicle sales, a rebadged but capable family hauler.
