The modern 124 Spider is a stylish Italian roadster built on the Mazda MX-5, blending Fiat design with proven sports-car mechanicals.
Launched in 2016, the modern Fiat 124 Spider revived a classic name on a two-seat roadster co-developed with Mazda. It shares its platform and much of its engineering with the MX-5 Miata but adds distinctive Italian styling inspired by the original 1960s 124 Spider and a turbocharged Fiat engine.
The result is a lightweight, rear-drive roadster with the MX-5's celebrated handling balance and a more relaxed, torquey character thanks to its turbo engine. The hotter Abarth version added sharper performance and styling.
The 124 Spider offered the proven sports-car fundamentals of the MX-5 with unique Italian flair, appealing to buyers wanting open-top driving fun with distinctive style.
