Mazda
The style-led electric crossover. Freestyle doors, modest range, sustainable design.
The Mazda MX-30 is the brand style-led electric (and mild-hybrid) crossover, notable for its distinctive freestyle (rear-hinged) doors, sustainable cork and recycled-material interior, and Kodo design. It prioritized design, refinement, and sustainability over outright range, with a relatively modest battery that drew criticism for limited driving distance. Mazda took an unconventional approach with the MX-30, even exploring a rotary-engine range-extender version that revived the brand iconic rotary as a generator. It is a niche, design-focused EV rather than a range champion. On WhipJury, the MX-30 appears as a distinctive, design-led electric crossover.
