Hummer H3: The Compact Hummer
The H3 was the smallest and most affordable Hummer, a midsize SUV that made the rugged brand accessible to a wider audience.
Introduced in 2005, the H3 was Hummer's smallest model, built on a GM midsize truck platform shared with the Chevrolet Colorado. It retained the brand's boxy, militaristic styling in a more manageable size, with a five-cylinder engine and later an available V8.
More affordable and easier to live with than the H2, the H3 still offered real off-road capability with four-wheel drive, good ground clearance, and available locking differentials. A pickup variant, the H3T, broadened the lineup.
The H3 helped Hummer reach mainstream buyers, but the brand's fortunes faded as fuel prices climbed and GM restructured. Hummer was discontinued in 2010, ending the H3's run and the original brand before its later electric revival.
