Alpine A610: The Final Classic-Era GT
The Alpine A610 was a turbocharged, rear-engined V6 GT coupe of the early 1990s and the last Alpine model before the brand went dormant.
Introduced in 1991, the Alpine A610 was the final evolution of Alpine's rear-engined GT lineage that began with the A310. It retained the fiberglass body and steel backbone chassis approach that had defined Alpine road cars for decades, but wrapped it in smoother, more modern styling that moved away from the A310's sharp wedge lines.
Power came from a turbocharged V6 engine mounted behind the cabin, giving the A610 genuine grand-touring pace alongside the poise Alpine's chassis engineering was known for. It was a more grown-up, refined machine than earlier Alpines, aimed at buyers who wanted comfort and speed in equal measure.
The A610 holds a notable place in Alpine's story: it was the last new Alpine model before Renault shelved the brand in 1995, and Alpine would not return to production until the revived A110 arrived more than two decades later in 2017.
